LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Position Summary Laboratory Technician (Lab Tech-Medical Science I) – This position supports microbiology research within the Huigens laboratory by performing antibacterial susceptibility assays, maintaining bacterial cultures, and evaluating small molecules for antibacterial activity. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for accurate data generation, analysis, and documentation in compliance with laboratory standards. The role also contributes to overall lab operations by maintaining instruments, managing supply inventory, and supporting organizational tasks essential to efficient lab function. Additional Schedule Information 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday through Friday Must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary Salary $35,031 to $40,000+ / Commensurate with Experience Responsibilities Conduct microbiology research, including performing antibacterial susceptibility assays and evaluating antibacterial agents, biofilm inhibitors, and biofilm‑eradicating compounds within the Huigens laboratory (75%). Manage and document experimental data, including maintaining accurate laboratory notebooks, updating shared electronic records, and preparing presentations of research findings; provide weekly data reports to the principal investigator and present experimental results at bi‑weekly group meetings (20%). Assist with laboratory operations, including maintaining laboratory instruments, monitoring supply inventory, and supporting general lab organization (5%). Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology or related area; prior microbiology lab experience working with bacteria.
