Frost Bake Shop is a local & family owned business that started in 2004 by the Kloos family. Frost opened it's first retail location in 2013. As of 2022, we have 3 retail locations in the greater Memphis area. We specialize in cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, and cheesecakes. We also make customized desserts for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. We believe in being open every day, having every menu item every day of the week, and having something taste as good as it looks!

Job Title: Cake Decorator / Sugar Artist

Location: Bartlett Production Facility

The Role: Where Art Meets Cake

Are you a sculptor whose medium happens to be sugar? We are looking for a highly skilled Cake and/or Cookie Decorator to turn our desserts into stunning works of art. This role is for a professional who can balance high-level creative execution with the technical discipline required for stacking and leveling complex tiers. From delicate butter cookies to intricate 3D fondant sculptures, you will be responsible for the "wow factor" that defines our brand.

Essential Responsibilities

• Artistic Execution: Use frosting, fondant, and sugar products to create visually stunning, high-end custom cakes and standard desserts.
• Structural Integrity: Master the stacking and leveling of multi-tiered cakes, ensuring every creation is as stable as it is beautiful.
• Sculpting & Detail: Design and hand-craft 3D sculptures and intricate decorations that meet our exact brand standards.
• Precision Decorating: Apply expert-level frosting techniques to butter cookies and frost custom cakes/cupcakes with flawless consistency.
• The Blueprint: Follow established design processes and decorative styles exactly as shown, ensuring a consistent look for every client.
• Efficiency: Work with a strong sense of urgency to meet delivery deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Kitchen Stewardship: Maintain an organized, clean, and professional decorating station.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional decorating experience in a high-volume bakery (required).
• Portfolio: Candidates should be prepared to showcase a portfolio of past work (specifically fondant and frosting techniques).
• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Artistic Skills: Advanced proficiency in fondant work, color mixing, piping, and sugar artistry.

Skills & Abilities

• Meticulous Attention to Detail: You have a "perfectionist" streak when it comes to straight lines, smooth finishes, and color matching.
• Methodical Problem Solving: You can look at a complex design and logically determine the best way to build it.
• Collaborative Spirit: You maintain positive, productive relationships with the baking and front-of-house teams.

Physical Demands & Environment

• Stamina: Requires long hours on your feet, bending, and the ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs (especially when moving large tiered cakes).
• Visual Precision: Excellent color vision and depth perception are required for intricate decorating tasks.
• Environment: Climate-controlled studio with occasional exposure to our 0-degree walk-in (gear provided).
