About Sunrise Play Café
Sunrise Play Café is a family play space and café in Tacoma's Stadium District (204 St. Helens Ave). Kids get a safe, imaginative Play Plaza made for ages 0–6. Grown-ups get great coffee, fresh food, and a chance to recharge. Our team members are called Guides, and our guests are our friends. We're looking for warm, reliable people who love kids, take pride in a clean and welcoming space, and want to help build Tacoma's favorite gathering place. Rise. Play. Shine.
Schedule: Two shifts daily, 8am–12pm and 12pm–4pm.
Some schedules may also include evening events from 4–6pm or 6–8pm.
Part-time, with the option to work up to 40 hours per week.
About the role
You keep our kitchen running safely, cleanly, and on time. You prep and serve our café food, keep the dish pit moving, and hold every station to health-department standards. Our kitchen is a nut-free zone, so attention to detail matters.
What you'll do
- Prep, cook, and plate café menu items, including TurboChef items, daily soups, and party food
- Follow TPCHD food safety standards: temperatures, labeling, date rotation, and sanitizer concentration
- Wash, dry, and put away dishes; keep the 3-compartment sink and stations organized
- Receive and put away deliveries; rotate stock and label day-old items
- Follow allergen protocols and our nut-free policy every time
- Complete opening and closing kitchen checklists, including sanitizing stainless surfaces and the floor sink
What we're looking for
- Kitchen, food prep, or dishwashing experience preferred, but we will train the right person
- WA Food Worker Card, or able to get one within 14 days of hire
- Comfortable standing for a full shift and lifting up to 40 lbs
- Reliable and punctual, and works clean
- Willing to complete a background check
