Senior Director, Software Engineering - Jersey City

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 10+ years of applied experience.
• We require 5+ years of experience leading technologists to anticipate and resolve complex technical challenges within your area of expertise.
• We require senior engineering leadership experience owning large-scale platforms, not just applications, with measurable reliability and adoption outcomes.
• We require deep expertise in distributed data processing and runtime systems.
• We require hands-on experience with batch processing using PySpark and modern Spark ecosystem patterns.
• We require streaming expertise with Flink or an equivalent platform, including state management, exactly-once or at-least-once delivery, and backpressure handling.
• We require familiarity with platform tooling such as DBX or comparable tools, including CI/CD, release management, and environment management.
• We require knowledge of serverless and managed compute patterns, including their trade-offs.
• We require strong architecture skills across compute, storage, networking, security, and observability.
• We require proven ability to lead cross-functional delivery across multiple organizations and complex stakeholder groups.
• We require experience working in regulated, high-control environments with strong risk and operational discipline.

• We will set and evolve the multi-year strategy and target architecture for batch and streaming compute platforms.
• We will define the platform operating model, service catalogue, SLAs/SLOs, risk controls, and lifecycle standards across build, run, and deprecation.
• We will drive platform adoption, standardization, and cost and performance optimization across workloads and environments.
• We will lead multiple engineering teams and platform pods delivering core compute services, libraries, and developer experience.
• We will own roadmap planning, prioritization, delivery governance, and measurable outcomes such as availability, latency, throughput, cost, and developer productivity.
• We will establish reference patterns for data processing, orchestration, observability, lineage, and reliability engineering.
• We will build and scale distributed batch processing capabilities using PySpark and DBX, as well as real-time streaming capabilities using Flink and related services.
• We will enable serverless execution patterns where appropriate to reduce operational overhead and improve elasticity.
• We will ensure secure-by-design implementations, including access controls, data protection, and auditability.
• We will integrate compute platforms with firmwide AI frameworks to support AI-assisted data engineering and operational workflows.
• We will develop domain agents that support the data processing lifecycle, including intake, transformation, validation, monitoring, incident triage, remediation, and documentation.
• We will partner with governance and control stakeholders to ensure compliant use and appropriate guardrails.
• We will work closely with product, data, and technology leaders across Lines of Business to clarify requirements, shape demand, and translate business needs into an executable portfolio.
• We will resolve trade-offs and dependencies across teams and communicate clear, decision-ready updates to executive stakeholders.
