Under the direct supervision of a School Principal, to assist administrators, teachers, parents and students in resolving behavioral and disciplinary problems in a consistent manner. The Dean of Students has the primary responsibility for providing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support services to students and staff. The main roles are to provide support towards students' academic growth, ensuring the effective delivery of the instructional program. Oversee matters related to student social and emotional growth and development. Assist the administrative team in the implementation of a positive, inclusive, safe learning environment with high expectations for all. Works with teachers, school counselors, and related service personnel to identify skills and strategies to assist student(s) having difficulty meeting behavioral expectations, and/or to enrich their academic cognition. Coordinator with parents to implement effective behavioral strategies between home and school connections. Additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, and telephone. Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings as required. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Work in standard office and school building environments.

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc. Knowledge of student behavior management techniques. Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and ability to engage in dispute resolution. Ability to communicate effectively verbally an in writing. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Certification/License: NJ State Certification Principal. Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Education Bachelor's and Masters Degree an accredited college or university. Experience Successful experience working with children at risk. Successful experience developing and implementing professional development programs relating to non-academic student behavioral issues preferred. FLSA Status: Exempt
