Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift)

A leading food manufacturing operation is hiring a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic to keep high-speed labeling, packaging and production equipment running safely and reliably. This role owns troubleshooting, repair, rebuild and preventive maintenance work across a busy year-round facility.

The best fit is an industrial maintenance professional who can diagnose mechanical failures independently, work confidently around conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and motors, and stay effective on a rotating 12-hour night schedule. Experience with fabrication, industrial electrical systems or PLC troubleshooting will make a candidate especially competitive.

Location: Geneva, NY

Shift: 2nd shift, 5:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m.; Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Initial training may be Monday-Friday on 8-hour shifts. Overtime and schedule flexibility are required during peak production.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on production, labeling, packaging and material-handling equipment.
• Diagnose failures quickly and restore equipment to service while protecting safety, food quality and product flow.
• Repair and rebuild pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, motors and related mechanical assemblies.
• Support case stackers, tray packers, palletizers, depalletizers and labeling equipment.
• Complete preventive maintenance, planned equipment overhauls and corrective work orders.
• Use hand and power tools safely; fabricate or weld repair components when qualified.
• Document repairs, parts used, follow-up needs and recurring equipment issues in maintenance logs.
• Support plant uptime during seasonal production peaks, including required overtime and schedule changes.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area and follow all plant safety and food-manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and motors.
• Ability to identify failure causes, make sound repair decisions and work with limited supervision during production.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and measurement tools safely and effectively.
• Willingness and ability to work the rotating 12-hour 2nd-shift schedule, complete weekday training and work required overtime.
• Clear communication, dependable attendance and disciplined repair documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience maintaining high-speed food, beverage, canning, bottling or packaging equipment.
• Fabrication and MIG/TIG welding capability.
• Experience troubleshooting 480V three-phase motors, drives, sensors or related industrial electrical systems.
• PLC troubleshooting exposure, especially using inputs, outputs and fault information to isolate equipment problems.
• Experience with labelers, case packers or stackers, tray packers, palletizers or depalletizers.
