Work Environment

This position is located at our hospital facility in Schenectady, where our onsite team collaborates closely to enhance patient care. You will report directly to a licensed Physical Therapist, benefitting from a hands-on approach to learning and patient support. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of personalized treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring protocols are followed accurately.
• Deliver hands-on therapy through guided therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and modalities that facilitate recovery.
• Monitor patient progress meticulously, documenting observations and adjusting treatment interventions as directed, in alignment with established goals.
• Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and postoperative care, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to guarantee holistic patient care.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records to ensure continuity of care and effective communication within the team.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and various musculoskeletal conditions. This diverse patient population requires a tailored approach to therapy, giving you the opportunity to apply your expertise while developing personalized relationships with each patient, enhancing their motivation and adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is required.
• A current and valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• A minimum of two years of experience in an orthopedic setting is essential.
• Profound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism while providing exceptional patient care, fostering trust and co-operation.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, as well as familiarity with evidence-based practices in orthopedic rehabilitation. Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques would be an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits
