Job Description Job Description Overview A a growing and highly regarded elder law and estate planning firm, is seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive professional to join our team in a Senior Paralegal / Senior Legal Assistant capacity. This role is designed for a seasoned candidate who can operate in a fast-paced environment, take ownership of responsibilities, and play a key role in both case management and firm operations . Depending on experience and skillset, the successful candidate will function in either a Senior Paralegal position (legal drafting and case management focused) or a Senior Legal Assistant position (operations, client management, and workflow focused) . You will work directly with the managing attorney and become an integral part of the firm's continued growth. Practice Areas * Estate Planning (Wills, Revocable & Irrevocable Trusts, Advance Directives) * Probate & Estate Administration * Guardianships (Article 81 & Article 17-A) * Medicaid Planning & Applications * Special Needs Planning Senior Paralegal Position (Legal / Case Management Focus) For candidates with strong drafting skills and experience managing matters from intake through completion. Key Responsibilities * Draft and prepare complex legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies * Prepare probate and administration petitions, accountings, and supporting filings * Assist with guardianship proceedings and court submissions * Support Medicaid applications, eligibility analysis, and document collection * Manage probate and estate administration matters from intake through final distribution * Communicate with clients, courts, and third parties * Track deadlines and ensure timely filings and compliance Qualifications * 2-5+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, elder law, or related field * Strong familiarity with New York Surrogate's Court procedures preferred * Experience with Medicaid or guardianship matters strongly preferred * Ability to manage multiple matters independently Senior Legal Assistant position (Operations / Client Management Focus) For candidates who excel in organization, scheduling, and keeping a law firm running efficiently.
