Radiation Therapist PRN

Job Description The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist. The role includes simulation of patients in preparation for radiation therapy, basic patient care, and patient education. Responsibilities Interpret and implement prescription and treatment plans, delivering and charting all simulation and treatment summaries. Perform simulation procedures, prepare immobilization devices, and obtain accurate measurements, contours, and other dosimetry information. Assess treatment machines and perform daily equipment warm‑up and quality assurance procedures. Assist in clinical training and evaluation of student therapists, if applicable. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Provide basic patient care during treatment delivery, assist with patient education, and monitor patients for signs of treatment symptoms. Provide accurate daily billing information for all treatment‑related procedures. Schedule and treat patients in a timely and professional manner. Skills Clinical Processes Patient Care Communication Oncology Decision‑Making Relationship Development Problem Solving Empathy Flexibility Collaboration Minimum Qualifications Radiology Tech License in the state of practice (if applicable). Certification in Radiation Therapy from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited institution. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see, read information, assess patient needs, and operate monitors. Frequent verbal communication with patient care providers, patients, and visitors. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision. Ability to lift, carry, and transfer patients, including heavy items. Capacity to walk, assist, transport, and ambulate patients, pushing/pulling equipment. Ability to stand for extended periods. For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle safely. Location Lutheran Medical Center Radiation Oncology, Golden, Colorado.
