Assistant Cook - Food Service

As an Assistant Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing both hot and cold foods by following standardized recipes and strict HACCP safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to accurately determine food quantities needed for preparation.
• Prepare and organize food production to meet serving deadlines efficiently.
• Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding equipment issues, food shortages, or preparation errors to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Serve and portion food on tray lines and maintain cafeteria food supplies during meal times.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food production areas, tray lines, and kitchen equipment.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Experience

Minimum of two years' experience in quantity food preparation is required.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic math calculations.
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to read, write, and understand policies and procedures.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds during shifts.

Working Conditions

Work environment includes exposure to heat, noise, steam, and high temperatures from grills and fryers. Additional hazards include water, chemicals, glass breakage, wet floors, and sharp knives.
