Furnace Operator (1:30m to 10:00pm)

Furnace Operator As a Furnace Operator you will: Regulate the temperature of the furnace and charges a mixture of gates, scrap, and ingot in the correct proportions and of the correct alloy. Add the necessary fluxes and master alloys to each heat. Degas metal as required and tests for presence of gas in molten metal. Remove molten metal from furnace when metal is at proper pouring temperature. Record temperature and treatment additions for quality control requirements. Remove slag from molten metal, transports ladles of metal to proper molding line and pours metal into molds at the proper height and rate, compatible with the size and structure of the casting. We are looking for someone who: Has math, computer, and communication skills Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English Holds a high school diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development Ideally has experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a foundry The physical demands of the job are: The work is classified as Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles) Frequencies: Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%) Lifting Demands: Lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to waist. Lift 75 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to chest. Lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to shoulder Carry 75 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet.
