General Summary of Position: MedStar Health is looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital! As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for assessing and treating clients for pulmonary/cardiac rehabilitation, including bio/psycho/socio/spiritual needs within your scope of practice and according to departmental policies and procedures. You will develop complex exercise prescriptions, assess effectiveness and responses to interventions, and document according to established standards. You must quickly and effectively respond to medical emergencies in a clinic and assist with scheduling, clinic clerical tasks, and quality improvement activities. Primary Duties Assesses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual & cultural dimensions of the patient as well as educational needs and documents appropriately. Facilitates patient/family, physician and staff safety and satisfaction, collaborating with the Operational Specialist for Rehabilitation and the clinical leader. Prioritizes plan of care to include patient education and utilize time effectively and efficiently. Provides responsible exercise specialist care in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, scopes of practice and legal/ethical standards. Communicates effectively with other health care providers. Evaluates patients' progress and documents per departmental protocols and AACVPR, ACSM and AHH Standards. Handles stressful situations with tact and poise. Employs principles of therapeutic communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing patient care. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or kinesiology. ACSM-RCEP (Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist) or equivalent within 1 year. CPR within 90 days. ACLS certification within 90 days. Pulmonary/cardiac rehabilitation experience preferred. This position has a hiring range of $22.04 - $38.41. #J-18808-Ljbffr
