UX Designer

The Junior UX Designer will create user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces for web and mobile applications. This role involves designing overall product functionality to ensure an excellent user experience, conducting user research, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback. The designer will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive digital products optimized for various devices. Responsibilities:

• Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
• Design the overall functionality of products to ensure great user experiences.
• Iterate designs based on user testing and feedback.
• Design user interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
• Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys to inform design decisions.
• Translate research into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Facilitate client product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user testing.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
• Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core and new features.
• Gather user feedback to configure and improve existing interfaces.
• Lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
• Collaborate effectively with developers, QA specialists, and business stakeholders.

• Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
• Experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, UI designer, or similar role for web and mobile applications.
• Ability to define and lead UX projects and design workshops.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canvas.
• Thorough understanding of web development technology limitations and appropriate use.
• Experience conceiving and conducting user research and translating findings into design artifacts.
• Experience designing and delivering wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes optimized for multiple devices.
• Strong communication skills to prepare clear documentation and convey design concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Team player with experience managing deadlines, priorities, and client relationships.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and designing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
• Ability to work with the Ontario Design System.
• Knowledge of digital service standards.
• Experience handling complex design challenges, including legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder relationships.
• Prior experience within Public Service or OPS environments.

• Must be available to work 5 days onsite.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.

• Standard weekday schedule with 5 days onsite.
