POPULATION SERVED

Clients we serve may range from the young adult to the geriatric population. Age specific experience is necessary to serve these populations.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program Current PTA license in the state of Texas Effective communication to the clients, the organization, and the supervising physical therapists

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients in the home under the direct or indirect supervision of a physical therapist, in conjunction with the patient, family and interdisciplinary team, following the plan of treatment as documented by the supervising physical therapist. The PTA will be responsible for clinical outcomes as well as industry benchmarks. Supervision must be performed by a registered physical therapist, directly or indirectly. The PTA will regularly monitor patient status and address all problems identified in the Plan of Care. The PTA will provide educational information to the patient, family or caregiver concerning knowledge deficits or needs regarding the patient's condition. The PTA will communicate with other disciplines involved in the case as warranted. Therapy settings may vary including but not limited to home health, facilities and schools. All specific training and instruction will be provided directly from the site supervisor or manager. PRN - Job Description (PTA) SCS PRN personnel will represent themselves as indicated by the referring agency. This will include maintaining appropriate patient schedules, and all documentation will be completed as required by the referring agency. All PT/PTA documentation should be complete and accurate to maintain the quality of the medical record for the client, as it relates to reimbursement guidelines and accuracy of billing. All documentation will be turned in to SCS in a timely manner. Finally, SCS PRN personnel will be expected to provide home health and/or facility PTA practice in accordance with the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) rules. Requirements Physical Demands within the PTA PRN/Optional often include: Standing/Walking Lifting/Carrying 1-25 Lbs (often), 25-50 Lbs (sometimes), >50 Lbs (rarely) Pushing/Pulling Working in household environments Operating a Vehicle Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens Potential exposure to body fluids Potential exposure to communicable diseases Utilization of durable medical equipment Utilization of adaptive devices

UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS

All SCS PRN staff will observe universal precautions in order to prevent contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. SCS PRN staff will complete blood-borne pathogen training, and use proper hand‑washing techniques when interacting with clients.
