RN NICU

About the Unit This is a 30-bed Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit with a team-like atmosphere. A Neonatologist and neonatal nurse practitioner are on the unit 24 hours a day. Nursing staff participate in many nursing councils across the hospital. NICU nurses are NRP certified and attend all high-risk deliveries. Together with a multidisciplinary team, NICU nurses participate in transporting infants from neighboring hospitals to Dearborn Hospital’s NICU. Scope of Work Utilize the nursing process to provide professional nursing care under the ANA scope of practice and patient-family centered care principles. Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader and in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures. Partner with patients and families to develop and implement individualized care plans and teach them about care strategies. Document education and learning appropriately in the health record. Qualifications Associates or Diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within five years for new graduates or nurses with less than one year experience. Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute-care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health-care role and must have passed the NCLEX. Michigan Registered Nurse license required (or new graduate within 60 days of hire). AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or transfer. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within six months of hire or transfer. Specialty certification highly recommended within two years.
