Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

PetVet Care Centers' Valencia Veterinary Center is seeking a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician. Sign‑On Bonus Eligible for a $2,000 sign‑on bonus, paid in 2 installments after 30 and 90 days of successful job completion. Position Overview The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients: take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, bandage and wrap wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; assist as directed by the veterinarian. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Ensure patients have food and water; clean rooms, cages, and equipment; observe clinical signs of disease. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including documentation and security of controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing areas, storing supplies, verifying shelf life, and following legal regulations. Maintain medical records by documenting patient conditions, reactions, and changes; update database accurately and timely. Communicate patient status to pet owners as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain equipment: follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs. Maintain inventory, place orders, verify receipts. Update job knowledge by participating in education and reading professional journals. Release pets to owners, ensuring cleanliness and grooming before release. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or GED. Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). More than three years of RVT experience. Leadership skills: ability to delegate and teach. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Experience with Cornerstone.
