Substitute Teacher

Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Position Description POSITION TITLE: Substitute Teacher FLSA: Exempt Professional REPORTS TO: Building administrator TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Daily contracted services for the current school year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Obtain and review lesson plans in advance. Dress professionally, adhering to Pittsylvania County Schools' Employee/Volunteer Dress Code Policy. Note room location and emergency evacuation plan (fire drill, etc.). Identify who to contact should you need help with discipline or other issues. Position yourself to greet students as they enter the classroom. Monitor both classroom and hall. Take attendance following school procedures. Follow lesson plans. Supervise students at all times. Adhere to all emergency codes. Follow dismissal procedures. Leave the room in an orderly manner. Leave notes for the teacher regarding any issues. Include student name, time and description of concerns. Complete the Teacher/Principal Report and leave in the office.

SAFEGUARDS:

Supervise students at all times. Keep students on task to maintain discipline and order. Know how to call for assistance if needed. Report any student injuries immediately to the office. PAY RATE: Substitute teacher without a degree $12.77 per hour Substitute teacher with a degree $14.26 per hour Retired teacher substitute $16.87 per hour
