The Work You Will Do:

This position performs professional accounting work within DBPR's Financial Reporting unit. Majority of this position's work centers timely cash management and oversight to support agency obligations. The position assists in various recording, reconciliation and reporting functions in the unit. In addition, the position provides assistance and staff support to ensure accurate accounting and business processes are performed in compliance with the standards of the Department (DBPR), the Department of Financial Services (DFS), the Office of the Auditor General, and governmental accounting.


Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Assists in the preparation of all financial statements in the Financial Reporting section, through the completion of tasks and activities as assigned by management
• Executes the postage redistribution to applicable boards within agency records timely and accurately. Any resulting vouchers and supporting documentation are filed to ensure appropriate record retention in keeping with agency requirements.
• Review and process redistribution based on Scholarship Tax report received from Division of Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco reflecting updated credit balances approved for allocation to the Department's participating approved licensed taxpayers, in compliance with 1002.395, Florida Statute
• Support the reconciliation of Consolidated Revolving Account (CRA) activity via the record of revolving fund reimbursements associated with revolving fund disbursements.
• Supports the monitoring and reporting of the status of the Department's trust fund cash, cash transfers and other required schedules relating to cash balances, investment and interest. Prepare The Daily cash and investment report, investing and disinvesting excess cash balances and posting the necessary accounting entries
• Reconciliation of the Administrative and Travel Revolving Fund. Sample audit of the miscellaneous cash receipt log to ensure checks are deposited with required time frames and recorded in FLAIR
• Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Versa Regulation, FLAIR, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to research, review, reconcile and analyze data.
• Skilled in the use of Excel and ability to communicate effectively and verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, theory and concepts.

Minimum Requirements :

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and six years of professional accounting experience

Preferred :

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting and two years of professional accounting or financial auditing experience; or
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a business major and 24 semesters of upper-level accounting coursework and two years of professional accounting or financial auditing experience.
• Three years of experience using FLAIR
• Experience reconciling and/or auditing FLAIR entries
• Intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel
• Experience reviewing the daily cash available report and investing or disinvesting excess cash.
