Summary Of Job

The Quality Engineer I supports the interpretation, implementation, validation, and ongoing assurance of customer, specification, and quality requirements. This role develops the technical knowledge and judgment necessary to independently execute defined quality engineering work within assigned areas. The engineer supports production, new work, quality planning, nonconformance resolution, testing, and compliance activities while learning how requirements are translated into practical controls. The expectation is to become reliably independent in completing assigned quality engineering work, communicating risks, and recognizing when additional support or escalation is required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support production by resolving quality questions, nonconformances, and requirement-related issues.
• Review and interpret specifications, drawings, customer requirements, and other technical documents.
• Develop and maintain inspection, testing, acceptance, control, and documentation requirements.
• Support process qualification, significant operations onboarding, and other quality-planning activities.
• Investigate nonconforming product and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support validation, periodic testing, calibration, sampling, and other quality-control activities.
• Work with Process Engineering, Production, Inspection, Solution Control, suppliers, customers and other resources to complete quality work.
• Communicate compliance risks, unresolved requirements, and needed escalation.
• Maintain accurate quality documentation and participate in cross-training across Hohman processes and customers.

Education, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another relevant technical field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong attention to technical detail and requirement compliance.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across technical, production, and quality functions.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The Environmental Management system is designed to meet the requirements of ISO 14001. The Environmental and Safety systems at Hohman plating meet and exceed requirements from OSHA, the DOTA and the EPA.
