MISCELLANEOUS STEEL FABRICATOR

Dial’s Metal Works LLC is looking for an experienced Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator to join our team. We specialize in structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication for commercial and industrial projects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Fabricate steel stairs, handrails, guardrails, ladders, platforms, canopies, bollards, gates, frames, columns, beams and other miscellaneous steel items.

  • Read and understand shop drawings, erection drawings and construction plans.

  • Accurately lay out, measure, cut, drill, cope, fit and weld steel components.

  • Fabricate from square tubing, rectangular tubing, pipe, channel, angle, plate, bar grating and structural shapes.

  • Perform MIG primarily & stick as required.

  • Use saws, ironworkers, plasma cutters, torches, grinders, drills and other fabrication equipment.

  • Check completed work for correct dimensions, weld quality, fit and overall appearance.

  • Prepare completed steel for painting, galvanizing or powder coating.

  • Load and organize fabricated materials for delivery to job sites.

  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors and field crews to ensure materials are fabricated correctly and on schedule.

  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least five years of miscellaneous or structural steel fabrication experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings.

  • Strong layout, fitting and welding skills.

  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and work with fractions and construction dimensions.

  • Knowledge of common steel shapes, sizes and materials.

  • Experience fabricating stairs, rails and other architectural or miscellaneous steel is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to operate standard metal fabrication tools and equipment safely.

  • Must be dependable, punctual and able to work independently.

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and work on your feet throughout the day.

  • Welding certifications are preferred but not required if the applicant can pass an in-house weld test.

  • Must be willing to follow all company safety and quality-control requirements.

Performance Expectations

  • Arrive on time and be prepared to work at the scheduled starting time.

  • Produce accurate work that matches the approved shop drawings.

  • Complete assignments within reasonable production time frames.

  • Ask questions before proceeding when drawings or instructions are unclear.

  • Take responsibility for the quality of completed work.

  • Minimize material waste, unnecessary rework and damaged components.

  • Properly maintain company tools, equipment and work areas.

  • Work professionally and respectfully with supervisors and other employees.

  • Follow company policies concerning safety, attendance, drug use and workplace conduct.

  • Maintain consistent attendance and communicate promptly if an emergency affects the work schedule.

Schedule

Full-time position. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime may be available or required depending on project schedules.
