This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and supporting electrical and mechanical equipment used throughout our marine and industrial operations. If you're mechanically inclined, dependable, and experienced working with 440 VAC powered equipment and industrial electrical systems, we'd like to hear from you.Pay: Competitive hourly pay, depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and applicable licenses.Location: Hampton, Virginia. Local candidates are preferred. Travel may occasionally be required based on operational needs.What You'll DoAs a Maintenance Mechanic / Marine Electrician, you'll troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install electrical and mechanical systems and equipment supporting marine coatings, abrasive blasting, scaffolding, and industrial operations. You'll work independently and as part of a team to keep critical equipment operating safely and efficiently in shipyard and industrial environments.Essential ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain 440 VAC powered equipment and electrical systems.Perform troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems and electronic components.Install, connect, inspect, and maintain commercial and industrial electrical distribution equipment.Safely connect equipment to electrical distribution panels.Install and maintain Russellstoll and Meltric plug connections.Use electrical meters and test equipment, including volt-ohm meters and clamp-on ammeters, to diagnose electrical issues.Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and industrial equipment.Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify appropriate corrective actions.Support the maintenance and repair of blasting and painting equipment, including dust collectors, ventilation blowers, industrial vacuums, heaters and air-conditioning units, blast pots, abrasive recycling equipment, deck blasting equipment, and electrical distribution panels.Perform basic welding and fabrication activities when qualified and required.Follow applicable Lockout/Tagout procedures when servicing or maintaining equipment.Inspect equipment and systems for safety hazards, damage, and maintenance needs.Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment issues as required.Respond to equipment breakdowns and operational needs in a timely manner.Follow all company, customer, and jobsite safety and quality requirements.Understand and obey all posted warning, caution, notification, and hazard signs at jobsites.Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively communicating with supervisors and operations personnel.Work effectively as part of a team to maintain equipment reliability and support safe, efficient project operations.Minimum QualificationsMinimum five (5) years of verified experience as a marine or industrial electrician working with 440 VAC powered equipment.Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial power distribution theories and techniques.Experience troubleshooting electrical, HVAC, electronic, and mechanical systems.Proficiency in the use of basic electrical meters and test equipment, including volt-ohm meters and clamp-on ammeters.Ability to safely connect equipment to electrical distribution panels.Experience installing Russellstoll and Meltric plug connections.Basic understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures.Strong critical thinking, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.Ability to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision.Strong commitment to safety, quality, dependability, and teamwork.Preferred QualificationsPrevious shipyard or marine industry experience.Experience maintaining and repairing marine coatings and abrasive blasting equipment.Experience with dust collectors, ventilation blowers, industrial vacuums, heaters and air-conditioning units, blast pots, abrasive recycling equipment, deck blasting equipment, and electrical distribution panels.Welding and fabrication experience.Forklift training or certification preferred. Additional company-specific training may be required after hire for employees operating forklifts.Current DBIDS access or eligibility to obtain access to applicable Naval facilities.Current TWIC Credential or the ability to obtain one if required for assigned work.Physical RequirementsThis position requires work in demanding marine and industrial environments. Candidates must be able to:Board and navigate large maritime vessels using stairs, ladders, and other access points while carrying necessary tools and equipment.Perform physically demanding work for extended periods.Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull as required to perform maintenance and repair activities.Work aboard maritime vessels and in active shipyard and industrial environments.Work in confined spaces and elevated areas when required.Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials necessary to perform assigned duties.Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Perform work in varying weather and environmental conditions.Additional RequirementsMust meet all applicable federal and state employment requirements.Reliable transportation is required.Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screenings, including drug screening (including marijuana), employment eligibility verification, and background screening where permitted by law.Must be adaptable to shipyard and industrial work environments.Must be available to travel occasionally based on operational and project requirements.Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules based on project requirements.
