Sr Maintenance Planner

The MRO Buyer is responsible for supporting plant operations through the effective management of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchasing, inventory control, contractor coordination, and preventive maintenance systems. This role ensures that materials, services, and equipment are available to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations across multiple shifts. The MRO Buyer serves as a key partner to maintenance, production, and leadership teams in minimizing downtime and optimizing plant performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- MRO Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Procure MRO, production, and facility parts, materials, and supplies to support daily operations.
- Manage MRO inventory levels, including part setup, tracking, cycle counts, and issuing materials to work orders.
- Monitor stock levels and proactively replenish critical spare parts to minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper storage and organization of materials.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Source suppliers and contractors based on cost, quality, service, and urgency of need.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors for maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and facility services.
- Ensure contractors comply with company safety policies and site requirements.
- Maintenance Systems Administration
- Maintain asset records, equipment history, and preventive maintenance programs within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
- Assist maintenance personnel with work order management and tracking.
- Compliance & Financial Support
- Support plant compliance efforts, including safety inspections, environmental reporting, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile purchasing transactions, invoices, receipts, and ensure accurate cost coding.
- Assist with budgeting activities, cost tracking, vendor performance monitoring, and expense control.
- Maintain documentation and records to support audits and compliance initiatives.
- Operational Support
- Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase equipment reliability.
- Support plant goals related to safety, productivity, quality, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Associate degree or technical training in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing support is required.
- Experience with MRO procurement and inventory management practices is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills is required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and maintenance best practices is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements involving the hands, arms, and legs.
- Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, reaching, pulling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and mechanical equipment while adhering to safety procedures.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility environment is located within a wood products plant.
- Regular exposure to machine noise, dust, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to work in temperatures exceeding 95F during summer months and colder conditions during winter months.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to support production and maintenance demands.
