Warehouse Order PickerThe Warehouse Order Picker plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment by moving, organizing, and preparing materials for shipment. This position involves reading and interpreting various order documents, using warehouse technology and equipment, and working closely with team members to maintain a safe, efficient, and well-organized facility.ResponsibilitiesRead production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas within the warehouse.Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code.Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to the packing station or shipping department.Package materials for shipment by shrink wrapping pallets, or boxing or bagging items based on the size and type of the order.Prepare bills of lading and other required shipping documentation for customer shipments.Mark materials with identifying information to ensure accurate tracking and inventory control.Open bales, crates, and other containers safely and efficiently to process incoming materials.Understand, or be willing to learn and effectively use, the warehouse computer system and RF scanner technology to pick, track, and verify orders.Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including unloading materials and handling products with appropriate equipment.Handle materials using pallet jacks and other basic warehouse tools to move and stage products.Support packing activities by properly packing and labeling orders for shipment.Work effectively as part of a team with management and all company personnel to meet production and shipping goals.Maintain neat and orderly work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.Provide prompt and accurate order fulfillment to support high levels of customer satisfaction.Essential SkillsAbility to read and interpret production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions.Ability or willingness to learn and effectively use warehouse computer systems and RF scanner technology.Capability to perform shipping and receiving tasks, including material handling and unloading.Experience or comfort using pallet jacks and basic warehouse equipment.Strong attention to detail in sorting, placing, and marking materials to maintain accurate inventory.Ability to assemble, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment, including shrink wrapping, boxing, and bagging.Ability to work effectively as part of a team with management and coworkers.Commitment to maintaining a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.Reliability in providing prompt and accurate order fulfillment.Basic understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable related to shipping documentation is helpful.Additional Skills & QualificationsWillingness to learn new warehouse systems and technologies, including RF scanners.Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple orders and tasks.Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.Ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines consistently.Previous experience in picking, packing, shipping, receiving, or material handling is an advantage but not required.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a supportive, team-oriented culture that values safety, reliability, and continuous learning. The regular schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with one week of training on a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The work takes place in a typical warehouse setting that involves standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment such as pallet jacks and RF scanners. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, with clearly arranged racks, shelves, and bins to support efficient material handling and order picking. Appropriate work attire suitable for an active warehouse setting is expected, allowing for safe movement and use of equipment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, WA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
