Progressive Die Press & Tooling Technician

Location: NW Houston, TX 77095
Pay: $20–$42/hr DOE
Night Shift Differential: 10%

Schedule:
Day Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
Night Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM–2:30 AM
Half days on Fridays as needed

TruBlu HR Solutions is seeking an experienced Progressive Die Press & Tooling Technician for a metal manufacturing facility in NW Houston.

We are looking for individuals with hands-on experience in progressive die stamping, die press operation, tooling, die setup, die maintenance, or Tool & Die work . The level of responsibility and pay will be based on experience.

Applicants may come from a strong production press background, a Tool & Die background, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automatic or semi-automatic stamping presses utilizing progressive dies
• Load coils and production materials
• Set up and adjust feeders and press equipment
• Perform progressive die setups and changeovers
• Monitor press operation and production quality
• Troubleshoot press, tooling, and die-related production issues
• Inspect finished components using calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
• Make adjustments necessary to maintain production specifications and quality standards
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of dies and tooling based on experience level
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble tooling as needed
• Machine or modify die components when qualified
• Set up and operate equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, and saws when required
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications
• Verify dimensions, alignments, tolerances, and clearances
• Identify opportunities for preventive maintenance or tooling improvements
• Document tooling repairs and maintenance activities
• Follow established production, quality, and safety procedures

The Tool & Die portion of the position includes machining and assembling die components, verifying dimensions and clearances, maintaining and repairing tooling, and recommending modifications that can improve tooling life or stamping quality.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with progressive dies, stamping presses, Tool & Die work, or closely related metal manufacturing
• Hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting experience
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment
• Ability to read production specifications and technical information
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot production issues
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Fluent English

Higher-level experience may include:

• Progressive die setup and changeovers
• Die repair and maintenance
• Tool & Die making
• Milling and lathe operation
• Grinding
• Blueprint reading
• Die component machining
• Tooling modifications
• Precision tolerances

The formal Tool & Die Maker requirements include experience reading technical specifications and blueprints and working with dimensional tolerances, along with significant related training or experience.

Compensation

$20–$42/hr DOE

Pay will be based on experience with progressive die presses, setups, troubleshooting, die repair, machining, and Tool & Die work.

Night-shift Die Press Operators may be eligible for a 10% shift differential .

Work Requirements

• Background check required
• Consistent attendance is required
• Must be able to report five minutes before the scheduled shift
• Jeans or work pants required; no joggers
• Steel-toe footwear preferred
