Associate Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs - Infectious Diseases and Microbiology

Job Overview Associate Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs – Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. Responsible for development, direction, and execution of medical and scientific evidence generation, external engagement, and study collaborations for the infectious disease serology and microbiology portfolios. The role involves establishing and collaborating with external partners, identifying clinical and academic partners for studies, communicating study results through posters, publications, and presentations, and working closely with global and regional marketing & commercial teams to provide medical and scientific input into strategic marketing and promotional activities for product launches. Reports to the Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs – Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. Fully remote position covering a global business area. Major sites in South Florida, Southern California, Hebron Kentucky, Minneapolis Minnesota, and hubs in Europe and Asia. Key Responsibilities Perform gap analysis for Integrated Medical Plans for Infectious Disease/Microbiology; lead and develop Integrated Evidence Plans (IEPs) and identify evidence opportunities and execute studies. Develop infectious disease and microbiology patient journeys and disease maps with global franchise teams. Develop and execute study strategy, author grants, and produce study deliverables such as publications, posters, and internal trainings. Synthesize study results and communicate or integrate key findings into medical and scientific presentations or collateral with MSL and commercial teams. Represent Beckman Coulter at external events, develop and execute Scientific Advisory Boards, and communicate medical and scientific intelligence to internal stakeholders. Essential Requirements Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) and 9+ years of experience in healthcare/research industry or equivalent, with substantial understanding of relevant therapeutic area. Extensive knowledge of clinical and laboratory practice in infectious disease testing and diagnosis (clinical virology, bacteriology, serologic, culture, AST methodologies). Ability to design and develop medical and scientific research protocols and studies, including medical writing and peer‑reviewed publication experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to synthesize and convey complex medical and scientific concepts. Ability to work in cross‑functional teams and coordinate scientific and medical activities with internal stakeholders (commercial, marketing, etc.). Travel & Physical Requirements Travel 20‑25% of the time (domestic and international). Preferred Experience Knowledge of clinical trial methodology, real‑world evidence, regulatory requirements governing clinical trials, and protocol design. Experience in clinical microbiology and/or clinical chemistry/immunology laboratories. Board certification in Medical Microbiology, Medical Immunology, or Clinical Chemistry (ABMM, ABMLI, NRCC) or equivalent. Remote Work Eligible for a remote work arrangement. Additional information will be provided during the interview process. Benefits & Compensation Annual salary range $190,000 – $230,000. Role eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
