Job Description Responsibilities “What would you say you do here?” Demonstrates strong conceptual ideas and visual creativity to form original costume designs. Explores and generates diverse ideas for film’s costumes through research, rough sketches, shape exploration. Builds pages of deeper development for a given character, including detailed call-out sheets, poses, and attitudes that reflect the inner workings of the character. May provide color styling for characters. Works closely with the Production Designer and/or Art Director and Character Designer. Understands how 2D drawings inform 3D shapes, and is able to describe the transition from flat shapes to volumes both verbally and through supporting drawings. Communicates progress of work to production staff. Ensure all deadlines are met. Basic Qualifications “What do I need to have in order to do this job?” Ability to think and design from concept to finish independently. Strong understanding of design principles. Able to adapt to a broad range of styles from realistic to stylized. Solid understanding of 3D form. Strong time management skills. Desired Qualifications “What can I offer?” Proficient in Photoshop, knowledge of Maya and/or ZBrush a plus. Experience with science fiction genre is a plus Hybrid This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
