Accounting Manager — Construction & Real Estate

We seek a hands-on accounting professional to manage day-to-day accounting and support construction budgeting and financial reporting.

This position combines full-charge bookkeeping for a multifamily property with construction project accounting and financial analysis. The right person will be comfortable handling invoices, payments, and reconciliations while also explaining project budgets, monitoring cash needs, and providing clear financial information to ownership.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books, reconcile bank and credit-card accounts, and prepare timely financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, payroll coordination, and security-deposit accounting.
• Maintain construction budgets, job-cost records, and project financial summaries.
• Prepare client billings, track project funds, and coordinate funding requests based on upcoming expenses.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices against contracts, obtain approvals, and coordinate payments and lien releases.
• Support development pro formas, cash-flow projections, and lender and investor reporting.
• Coordinate with outside accountants, banks, insurance providers, property management, and construction personnel.
• Resolve billing discrepancies and improve accounting processes and documentation.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience independently managing a complete set of books.
• Construction accounting and job-costing experience; multifamily property accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong spreadsheet skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly.
• We are using Quickbooks, AppFolio and BILL.com for most functions.
• Strong attention to detail, reliable follow-through, and willingness to handle both routine transactions and financial analysis.
