Travel Registered Nurse – Stepdown / Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU)

Shift: Nights – 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM (3 x 12-hour shifts)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in a Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU). This role is ideal for an RN with strong cardiac and progressive care experience who is comfortable caring for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring stepdown-level cardiovascular care.
Assess, monitor, and manage patients with acute cardiac and complex medical conditions.
Interpret telemetry rhythms and promptly respond to changes in patient condition.
Administer IV medications, including antiarrhythmic therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
Maintain compliance with patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and hospital policies.
Float to other designated units as needed based on staffing requirements.
Patient Population

The unit provides care for patients with:

STEMI and NSTEMI
Chest pain evaluation
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Patients requiring non-invasive ventilation
Post-cardiothoracic surgery patients transitioning from ICU
Patients receiving IV antiarrhythmic medications
Peripheral vascular disease and vascular compromise
Other cardiovascular and progressive care conditions
Unit Highlights
33-bed Cardiovascular Care Unit.
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
Collaborative multidisciplinary team focused on high-quality cardiovascular care.
Requirements
Active Oklahoma RN license or Compact RN license.
Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown (SDU) experience required.
Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred.
Ability to float to Medical-Surgical units or the Emergency Department to care for admitted Stepdown/Medical-Surgical hold patients when needed.
Strong telemetry interpretation, critical thinking, and cardiac assessment skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Scheduling Expectations
Night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM.
Required to work 6 weekend shifts during each 6-week scheduling period.
No on-call requirement.
Block scheduling is not available, and schedule flexibility is required.
