For the world's and people's tomorrows; the world's first, the world's best technologies and products; we will continue our part in creating a better society.Job SummaryJob DescriptionThe Application Engineering Co-Op is a technically inclined individual to aid in creating custom motor solutions that solve customer system issues for general industry applications.Duties:Assist engineers in performing motor testsPrepare motors, test fixtures, and various test equipmentCollect data and summarize in a report using graphical analysis of the test data.Assist engineers in troubleshooting motor issues.Assemble, disassemble, and/or modify motors related to experimentation to determine improvements.Use electronic and mechanical lab tools for various measurements to describe motor performance and features.Prepare and ship motor samples to customers.Work directly with applications engineering to solve application issues – also works with development, manufacturing and purchasingAssist applications engineering team in identifying and developing motor designs for customer's specific general industry systemsUse calipers, a CMM, or a surface table to measure partsWrite engineering change noticesRun a dynamometer to test electric motorsAssist with samples, customer approvals, manufacturing issues and UL approvalsEstimates and tracks time required to perform customer and internal supportKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Planned B.S. degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringAbility to work 20 to 30 hours weeklyExperience with electronics and the ability to use an oscilloscope are a plusStrong technical knowledge and hands on skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsResults oriented, self-motivated – high achieverStrong analytical ability and strategic/critical thinkerExcellent organization skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects efficientlyExperience with Microsoft ExcelAdditional Job DetailsEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at NidecNidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
