Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor – Adaptable Care Unit Fairfax, VA, United States Job Description Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated experienced Registered Nurse to join our Adaptable Care team. This role will be full‑time, nights (12‑hour shifts/40 hours per week) from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance eligible. The Adaptable Care Unit (4 South) at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital consists of 11 beds. The patient population includes progressive care and intermediate care – cardiac, neurological, isolation, dialysis or larger beds. Ideal candidates have strong time‑management skills and work well in team‑paced settings. Responsibilities Conduct high‑quality shift huddles, communicating strategic priorities and reviewing targets, gaps and results. Facilitate safety huddles and oversee environmental and safety rounding, ensuring completion of patient, medical director and RN rounding. Continuously round on staff to remove barriers to quality care and enhance staff engagement. Review core measures and key performance indicators, analyze unit‑based outcomes, and develop action plans for systematic improvement. Participate in emergency and safety preparedness drills and trainings as required. Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards and that team members are knowledgeable of related standards. Contribute to professional decision making to support unit‑based quality improvement work and strategic outcomes. Serve as a role model in communication with patients, diffusing difficult situations and facilitating resolution. Minimum Qualifications Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing; if RN has an ADN it must be within one year of completing a BSN. Experience: Minimum one year of registered nurse clinical experience in an acute‑care setting. Certification: Current Virginia RN license or privilege to practice under the eNLC; BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required upon start; specialty certification (as required by unit) within one year from hire; completion of a Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in intermediate care, progressive care, step‑down, neuro and telemetry strongly preferred. Inova Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
