Position Title Business Analyst II Position Type Regular About the Role The Business Systems Analyst II utilizes experience and systemsknowledge to solve complex problems. Individuals in this role shallspecialize in Human Resources and Payroll and have the ability toprovide consultative assistance to other functional areas at theuniversity such a Finance and Student. Other responsibilities include writing specifications; performingsystems and data analysis; implementing and modifying businessprocesses and configurations; and approving detailed test plans.The Business Systems Analyst II may also be required to providetechnical configuration, security administration, testing, andsupport maintenance of NKU's enterprise management system(Workday); and may oversee development assignments across multipleplatforms, including Workday integrations and reportingtools. Supports functional areas including reviewing project opportunityproposals, writing specifications, performing business process anddata analysis, configuring and modifying Workday business processesand tenant setup, approving detailed test plans, and managing smallto medium projects. Provides technical configuration, security group/roleadministration, testing, and support maintenance of NKU's Workdaytenant, including business process configuration, condition rules,and notifications. Collaborates with developers, integration teams, and subject matterexperts to establish technical vision, support EIBs/Workday Studiointegrations, and analyze tradeoffs between usability andperformance needs. Works closely with and serves as the primary backup for the areamanager. Provides end-user support, troubleshooting, and training on Workdayfunctionality; develops training materials and job aides forbusiness process changes. Provides testing support for projects, system updates, and ongoingenhancements, including regression testing, impact analysis, andreview of functional changes. Maintains and implements standards, documentation, securityprotocols, and best practices for Workday and other universityapplications. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong working knowledge of Workday architecture, businessprocess framework, and security model (or equivalententerprise/cloud ERP system, with willingness to develop deepWorkday expertise). Ability to analyze complex business problems, identify rootcauses, and recommend practical, scalable solutions. Skill in gathering and documenting business requirements andtranslating them into system configuration and functionalspecifications. Ability to develop, execute, and evaluate detailed test plansand scripts. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; ability tointerpret data and assess the downstream impact of configurationchanges. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with theability to explain technical concepts to non-technicalaudiences. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritiessimultaneously, often with competing deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to workcollaboratively across functional teams, IT staff, and universitystakeholders. Ability to train, mentor, and provide guidance toless-experienced analysts. Sound judgment and decision-making ability, particularlyregarding system security, data integrity, and process design. High degree of discretion in handling confidential andsensitive institutional data. Proficiency with report writing and data query tools;familiarity with integration concepts (APIs, EIBs) preferred. Ability to adapt to evolving system functionality, includingWorkday's ongoing release cycle. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science,Business Administration, or related field; or an equivalentcombination of education and experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business/systemsanalysis, with direct experience supporting an enterprise resourceplanning (ERP) or human capital management (HCM) system required;Workday experience strongly preferred. Experience with businessprocess configuration, security administration, and/or reportwriting within a large enterprise system preferred. Highereducation industry experience is a plus. Prior experiencesupporting Human Resource is strongly preferred. Workday certification(s) in a relevant functional area (e.g.,HCM, Financials, Integrations, Report Writer) preferred or may berequired to obtain within a defined period after hire.
