Location: White House, TN & Hendersonville, TN (Regional travel required)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Flexibility for last-minute schedule changes required)

The Patient Service Floater performs daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities across various regional patient service centers and client clinic locations. This role provides essential coverage where needed, requiring high flexibility, adaptability, and regional travel (including occasional overnight stays). The Floater interacts directly with patients, providers, and clinical staff to accurately execute clinical specimen collections, processing, and data entry in strict compliance with laboratory and safety standards.

• Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures, capillary collections, and non-blood specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) safely and accurately. Note: Straight needles/standard blood collection devices are primarily used; butterfly needles are not utilized.

• Specimen Processing & Packaging: Match requisition forms with specimen tubes. Centrifuge, split, freeze, label, and package samples per specific temperature and transport requirements.

• Regional Travel & Coverage: Travel on short notice to partner clinics within a designated regional radius (and occasionally out-of-state for multi-night stays). Maintain accurate travel logs.

• Order Entry & Administrative Tasks: Enter patient demographics, insurance, and test orders into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Verify missing order details with provider offices. Maintain collection logs and assist with inventory counts.

• Lab Safety & Compliance: Maintain clean, compliant draw stations, properly dispose of biohazardous materials/sharps, utilize proper PPE, and adhere to strict HIPAA guidelines.

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.

• Preferred: Completion of a formal medical training program (Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, or Paramedic) and Phlebotomy Certification (CPT via NHA, AMT, ASCP).

• 1-3+ years of hands-on phlebotomy and specimen processing experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency with straight needles and standard blood collection systems (comfort with larger needle gauges required).

• Basic computer literacy and data entry skills for LIMS order entry.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (fewer than 3 minor moving violations in the past 3 years).

• Reliable personal vehicle and proof of auto insurance.

• Willingness and flexibility to travel regionally, including occasional overnight/multi-night stays outside the local market.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt quickly to different clinic environments, staff, and workflows.

• Highly organized with strong time management skills.

• Professional demeanor and ability to alleviate patient anxiety during collections.
