Temporary Research Technician - Clayton, NC

Essential Job Duties This position will assist with all tasks related to the establishment, maintenance, and disposition of the field crops, vegetables, fruit, tobacco, and animal specimens. This includes, but is not limited to: The application of treatments to research subjects according to protocol including pesticides, fertilizers and irrigation Operation of a wide variety of agriculture equipment to prepare fields, apply treatments and harvest crops. Assisting research personnel with plot layout, implementation of treatments, and collection and recording of data. Hand planting and harvest Assisting research personnel in the seed lab and swine facility. Working with various types of irrigation equipment including laying solid set pipe and drip irrigation. Maintenance of equipment, grounds, buildings, field plots and other tasks. Work Schedule Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm Location Clayton, NC Minimum Experience and Education Combination of training and experience to perform job duties Required Skills Knowledge of agricultural practices related to crop and livestock production Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis Ability to operate farm equipment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to read and follow pesticide labels Ability to collect and record data Preferred Experience Experience in agriculture production Required Licenses & Certifications NC Pesticide license OR the ability to obtain one Valid driver’s license Other Requirements Valid NC Driver's License required: Yes Commercial Driver's License Required: No Compensation Anticipated Hiring Range: $20/hr Equal Employment Opportunity Mandate NC State University is an equal opportunity employer.
