Maintenance Technician

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Technician position in the Global Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist in the daily functions of the Maintenance Department. We offer competitive wages, benefits and Attendance Bonus. Additionally, you will

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc.

Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.

Disassembles machines and repairs and replaces broken parts.

Uses all types of power tools and hand tools

Adjustment of functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary

Keeps work area clean; observes all safety procedures

Interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructions

Maintains all types of forklifts and keeps in operating condition

Contributes to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racks

Carries out preventative maintenance program for all production equipment, mechanical devices, building and land, including maintaining maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists.

Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in general maintenance

Significant electrical work to repair or maintain company equipment.

A working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.

The ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, welding layouts, schematics, and complex electro mechanical assembly and/or erection directions.

Must have a high awareness for safety at all times

Perform and/or assist with maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.

Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g. off shifts, holidays, weekends, etc. as required/assigned.

Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.

The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Other duties as required and/or assigned.

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

Five years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

Five years of previous experience with overhead crane operations

Five years of previous experience operating a forklift

The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues

The ability to recognize hazardous substances and to know basic employee responsibilities for chemical safety
