Acute Care Physical Therapist II — Per Diem

Job Summary Physical Therapist 2 (Per diem) reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor 2 for Acute Care Physical Therapy. This position works as a journey-level therapist and is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating physical therapy treatments as assigned by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. PT 2s plan, evaluate, and implement programs for patients with complex problems, demonstrate independent judgment in documentation, billing, and patient treatment, act as resource for entry-level therapists, and provide clinical direction and training. Minimum Qualifications California Licensed Physical Therapist American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR certification At least two years of experience as a licensed physical therapist in a variety of clinical settings Ability to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required by PM&R Leadership Skills to provide assessments and interventions in Acute Care, ICUs, and Inpatient Rehabilitation Thorough working knowledge of patient care practices, principles, and techniques in the relevant specialty Effective verbal and written communication skills to team‑up with staff and patients Clear, concise, well‑organized written communication Willingness to assist other staff with inpatient caseloads Ability to establish and maintain rapport with patients and families Training of families in home therapy programs; ability to perform home visits as needed Knowledge of third‑party payor processing requirements Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports Organizational and scheduling skills for assigned patient areas Flexibility and cooperativeness in a clinical environment Passion for training and educating other hospital personnel Skill in organizing written material and maintaining accurate records Basic computer and technology skills Ability to work in stressful situations Preferred Qualifications Experience in an acute care physical therapy setting Experience documenting via Electronic Medical Record systems Key Responsibilities 90% – Provide physical therapy services to complex patients of all ages in Acute Care, ICUs, and Inpatient Rehabilitation as assigned by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 5% – Complete miscellaneous assignments as required. 5% – Conduct educational activities.
