Department: PCH-MAIN | Respiratory Therapy Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, (Days Vary), Shifts Vary, 6pm-6:30am Category: Respiratory Care Posting #: 942556 Employee Type: Varies Position Summary At Phoenix Children’s, we offer both part‑time and full‑time Respiratory Therapist positions across three convenient locations in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area for day and night shift. These roles provide flexibility or stability, and involve a range of respiratory services—including routine and complex procedures—for pediatric patients from neonatal to adolescent ages. Candidates must hold current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via the NBRC, possess an active Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner license (or be able to obtain it), and hold PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification. AARC membership is preferred. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures in line with established standards and guidelines, ensuring quality and safety. Apply knowledge of respiratory interventions and equipment, complete competency validations and re‑validations, and troubleshoot equipment when needed. Communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team, explaining care modalities and fostering a positive, trustworthy relationship. Interpret and report patient data accurately, providing thorough clinical status updates to the care team. Assess patient clinical status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend appropriate actions based on evidence and best practices. Apply critical thinking and sound judgment in problem resolution, including reporting incidents and communicating safety concerns. Continuously develop knowledge and skills through education, meetings, and staying current with respiratory care advancements. Function effectively within a team, exhibiting leadership, and responding to urgent and emergent situations. Prioritize multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain accurate documentation and billing records. Perform additional job‑related duties as required. Qualifications Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program. Post‑graduation experience in a hospital environment. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Ability to obtain an Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner license by hire date. Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) – preferred. Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification – preferred. Physical and Occupational Requirements Essential physical abilities include climbing (occasionally), sensing textures and temperatures (constantly), fine motor skills, hearing, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling (frequently), talking (constantly), tasting/smelling (occasionally), walking, near and far vision, color discrimination, keyboard and mouse use (frequently), and lifting up to 35 pounds without assistance (occasionally). Occupational exposures may include confined areas, extreme noise levels, airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, fumes, hazardous materials, radiation, and toxic chemicals.
