Pharmacist (Chief Pharmacist) - Direct Hire

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirements: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree. AND Licensure: Applicants also must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. NOTE: ALL applicants MUST upload proof of current, active and unrestricted license for verification at the time you apply. AND Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors. NOTE: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants must have a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience. Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or Maintaining all medication records required by law. Experience in planning and providing a completely integrated pharmacy program and coordinating these programs with all other departments within the institution. Experience in determining that all medications are properly packaged and labeled. Experience in dispensing pharmaceuticals in accordance with proper procedures. Experience in supervising and directing subordinate staff consisting of Staff Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Technician's (which may include civil service and/or Public Health Service staff). All qualified referred candidates will undergo a credentialing process prior to employment with the Bureau of Prisons. This process includes validation of examinations, licensure, education, internship and residency.
