Phlebotomist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join a concierge-style medical practice that prioritizes exceptional patient care and efficiency. This individual will be responsible for performing venipuncture procedures, processing specimens, maintaining laboratory standards, and ensuring a seamless patient experience. As the sole Phlebotomist in the office, this person must be confident working independently, managing a high-volume workload, and providing professional, patient-centered service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Verify patient information, accurately label specimens, and maintain documentation within the EMR and laboratory systems.
• Process and handle specimens according to laboratory protocols to ensure specimen integrity.
• Prepare and maintain collection supplies, equipment, and work areas.
• Follow laboratory quality assurance, quality control, safety, infection prevention, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines.
• Educate patients on blood draw procedures and address questions or concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment.
• Support clinical operations and assist with additional duties as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve office workflows and patient experience.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience; 3+ years strongly preferred.
• Experience performing difficult venipunctures ("hard sticks") in settings such as oncology, dialysis, infusion, or similar specialties OR high-volume blood draw experience in environments such as hospital ERs, ORs, blood banks, Quest, Labcorp, or reference laboratories.
• Strong specimen collection, processing, and patient identification skills.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW).
• Experience with Orchard Laboratory Information System.

• Thrives in a concierge medicine environment where customer service is a top priority.
• Able to maintain speed and accuracy in a high-volume setting, with an expectation of completing blood draws shortly after provider orders are placed.
• Comfortable serving as the primary Phlebotomist and taking ownership of the laboratory workflow.
