The City of New Albany, OH (pop. 11,604). New Albany, a dynamic, strategically planned community with a commitment to lifelong learning, health and wellness, environmental sustainability, and the arts, seeks its next city manager. The current city manager has notified City Council of his intent to retire at year's end following 27 years of service in the position. New Albany encompasses more than seventeen square miles across northeastern Franklin County and western Licking County in Central Ohio. Located just ten miles from John Glenn International Airport and fifteen miles from downtown Columbus - Ohio's capital city and the nation's 14th largest metro area - the community offers exceptional connectivity for residents and businesses alike. Defined by thoughtful planning and intentional growth, New Albany features an integrated network of neighborhoods, parks, leisure trails, and community amenities designed to enhance quality of life. This approach is complemented by the 9,000-acre New Albany International Business Park, a nationally recognized hub for innovation and investment. The park is home to more than 27,000 employees across 43 million square feet of development, including industry leaders such as Abercrombie & Fitch, AEP, Meta, Amgen, Google, and Amazon, along with the transformational Intel campus currently under construction, which will include two state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication facilities. The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government, where the city manager is the City's chief executive officer reporting to a seven-member City Council. The city manager appoints and removes the director of law and the director of finance, subject to the consent and approval of the City Council. All other department heads are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the city manager. Departments include Community Development, Public Service, Police, Administration, Strategic Initiatives, and Finance. Qualifications A minimum of seven years of experience, including a leadership position in a complex community with both a strong residential foundation and a significant commercial component. A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy or related field; a master's degree in public administration, business administration, planning or a related field is strongly preferred. A collaborative leadership style with knowledge of and practice in effective management concepts, principles, strategies, practices, and techniques. A strong financial acumen with experience in development negotiation, business attraction and retention, and a track record of providing a high level of customer service. A creative and measured problem-solving approach and well developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Compensation and Benefits The starting salary range is $179,499-224,374 depending on qualifications and experience.
