The Foster Care Home Provider opens their heart and home to children and youth (ages 0–21) who need a temporary, safe, and nurturing environment. This isn't just about providing a room; it’s about providing a family. You will act as a primary caregiver, advocate, and emotional anchor for children navigating the foster care system, helping them feel secure and valued while their biological families work toward reunification or other permanency goals.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Holistic Caregiving: Provide the essentials of a healthy childhood, including nutritious meals, a stable home, educational support, and regular healthcare, with the warmth and consistency of a dedicated parent.
• Healing-Centered Parenting: Maintain a "nurture-first" environment, utilizing patience and empathy to help children who have experienced loss process their emotions and build resilience.
• Stability & Routine: Create a predictable household rhythm and structure, such as consistent bedtimes and family traditions, to allow a child’s nervous system to move from "survival mode" to "growth mode."
• Educational & Social Advocacy: Partner with schools to ensure academic success and encourage participation in extracurricular activities, hobbies, and community events to build self-esteem.
• Co-Parenting & Reunification Support: Support the child's relationship with their biological family, where safe and encouraged by DCBS, recognizing these connections are vital to the child’s identity and healing.
• Transition Mentorship: Serve as a life-skills coach for older youth (up to age 21), teaching essential adulthood skills like cooking, driving, and career planning within a safe family setting.
• Professional Partnership: Work as a key member of a professional team through regular communication with DCBS Case Workers, attending court hearings, and participating in meetings.
