Position Overview:

The Lead  Respiratory Therapist role evaluates, treats, and cares for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Practicing under the direction of the Respiratory Department Head. Respiratory therapists assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy Technicians.

• Lead and manage the pulmonary program, ensuring effective treatments and compliant documentation

• Assess patients and recommend appropriate respiratory therapy treatments

• Administer doctor-recommended respiratory therapy treatments

• Plan, prepare, and administer treatments such as IPPB, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions

• Perform diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac tests

• Inspect, test, maintain, and operate respiratory therapy equipment

• Respond to “code blue” emergencies, maintain airways, and perform CPR

• Instruct and supervise respiratory technicians

• Ensure patient care documentation is timely, legible, concise, and meets departmental standards

• Use resources and materials efficiently and safely

• Perform all duties promptly with competence and care
