Production Supervisor

Job Overview Hexcel is an industry leader in manufacturing advanced composite materials including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs and additive‑manufactured parts. The Production Supervisor for the Kent, WA location will coordinate, schedule and manage materials, personnel and equipment to optimize production. Responsibilities Supervise, educate, coach and provide developmental opportunities to team members; remove barriers to assure individual and group success and completion of all goals in Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Productivity and Cost Control, and Continuous Improvement (5S, LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.). Support the Safety Management System including job observation, monthly safety meetings, pre‑shift safety meetings, safety walk‑through audits, safety training for direct reports, communication of safety information, and accident investigations. Participate in monthly quality meetings, pre‑shift meetings, quality walk‑through audits, quality training for direct reports, communication of quality information, and investigations. Communicate daily with other supervisors on personnel issues, equipment status, and manufacturing progress to meet schedule. Maintain effective communication with plant management and other departments to support the company’s safety, quality goals and production. Provide leadership through active participation in employee development and a positive work environment. Assess new hires during the probationary period to ensure adequate training and development. Issue recommendations, corrective actions, and resolve complaints for all direct reports. Manage non‑manufacturing personnel during off‑shift coverage (lab personnel, maintenance, etc.). Qualifications Minimum of three years of production leadership experience and/or three years of military leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict, perform thorough investigations, and set and communicate goals and expectations to large production teams in a diverse and multi‑cultural environment. Experience with leadership in a unionized environment preferred. Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ERP/MRP experience preferred. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple variables in situations with limited standardization. Strong problem solving, facilitation, presentation, and communication skills. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred. Regular attendance on company premises is required.
