Radiation Oncology Info Assistant - PRN

Part time Oncology: Radiation department position. Works Monday through Friday day shift, available PRN/as needed for staffing and vacation coverage. Pay range: $19.80 to $29.70 per hour. Education / Experience Required 2 years secretarial experience, healthcare environment preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Good communication skills. Typing minimum 30 wpm. Proficient with multiple databases, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to create spreadsheets and manipulate data. Major Responsibilities Customer service and patient interactions: greets patients and families, answers questions, coordinates appointments, assists with forms, demonstrates AIDET, maintains patient reassurance, preauthorizes imaging, writes letters, differentiates registration procedures. Records management: creates electronic charts, obtains medical records, scans documents into charts, processes dictations, completes QCLs, corrects discrepancies, retrieves clinical information, takes new patient intake. Departmental communications: answers phones, pages personnel, takes messages, informs staff, communicates with physician practices, distributes mail, responds to electronic communications. Computer system utilization: registers patients in Allegra and Mosiaq, obtains ICD-9 codes, operates office equipment, maintains data quality, creates swipe‑in queueing cards. Work prioritization and organization: sets priorities, works independently, follows up pending matters. Problem‑solving: makes timely decisions, locates resources, handles routine problems. Ordering: orders office and nutritional supplies. Participates in quality assurance: attends safety in‑service, provides feedback on process improvement, participates in department meetings. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Travel may be required to support committees. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with time constraints. For direct patient contact, ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Patient handling equipment must be used for heavier lifts or when patient cannot assist. Compensation Base compensation within the listed pay range based on qualifications and experience. Premium pay such as shift, on‑call, and other opportunities based on job responsibilities.
