Base pay range $28.28/hr - $43.84/hr Direct message the job poster from School District of Lee County The School District of Lee County is currently hiring a Fire Inspector to ensure compliance with fire safety codes, regulations, and standards across all school district facilities. This position conducts fire inspections, investigates fire hazards, provides safety training, and works closely with local fire departments and school administrators to promote a safe learning environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of professional, full-time experience in fire safety, inspections, and/or plan review. Must maintain the minimum requirements of the State of Florida, as specified in F.S. 633. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree from an accredited institution in Fire Science, Public Safety or a closely related field Five years of professional, full-time experience in fire safety, inspections, and plan review. Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy required qualifications. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conduct regular fire safety inspections of school district buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes. Identify and document fire hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure compliance. Inspect fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other fire protection systems. Investigate fire incidents and work with local fire authorities to determine causes and preventive measures. Develop and implement fire safety policies, evacuation plans, and emergency response procedures. Provide fire prevention and safety training to staff, students, and administrators. Maintain records of inspections, violations, corrective actions, and fire safety equipment testing. Coordinate and participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises. Stay updated on changes to fire codes, safety regulations, and best practices. Assist with fire safety aspects of building renovations, plan review and new construction projects. Serve as a liaison between the school district and fire departments, emergency services, and regulatory agencies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
