CT Technologist Full Time Variable Shift

The Director of Pharmacy directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio. The director of pharmacy maintains contact with other department leaders, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy.

The Director of pharmacy will have the overall responsibility for developing staff and maintaining department competency; maintaining survey readiness for accrediting bodies; supporting the hospital in its mission, vision, values and overall goals

The Director of Pharmacy will be designated as the Pharmacist in Charge of the hospital.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the pharmacy to ensure that patients’ pharmaceutical needs are effectively met.
• Communicates the needs of the department to Senior Management and collaborates with medical staff regarding prescriptive issues and therapy recommendations.
• Establishes policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for the provision of services and coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of service to patients.
• Regularly reviews all pharmaceutical policies and procedures for the purpose of establishing their consistency with current practices within the hospital, compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations, and good Pharmaceutical care.
• Initiates and monitors systems to ensure proper storage conditions for all pharmaceutical items.
• Establishes drug quality specifications for drugs to be purchased.
• Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.
• Demonstrates good leadership by developing standards of performance, determining areas of responsibility and accountability and delegating authority to various department staff members.
• Establishes and evaluates standards of care.
• Assures compliance with JCAHO. Medicare and other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
• Financial Performance/Operating Indicators: Total operating expenses per stat. Volume generated; Revenue integrity; Department specific indicators

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy, required.
• PharmD, preferred

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• Current Texas Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph) license
• BLS Required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• IV certification preferred

Required Skills Required Experience

• SPECIFIC JOB EXPERIENCE
• Minimum five (5) years hospital pharmacy experience
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in a supervisor capacity
• Demonstrate competent administrative, leadership and management, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Knowledge of JCAHO and Medicare standards affecting pharmacy.
• Must possess ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel, medical staff and the public.
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions.
• Must have ability to act as liaison between personnel and management.
• Ability to utilize Electronic Health Care Record for patient documentation.
