Charlie Health is hiring a Senior Commercial and Product Counsel to operate at the intersection of legal, product, and growth. This role is a core partner to Product, Engineering, Data, and commercial teams—helping the organization scale responsibly while navigating a complex healthcare regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead high-impact commercial work, including negotiating technology, SaaS, payor, and strategic partnership agreements, while also building the foundational legal infrastructure that supports scale—developing templates, playbooks, and contracting frameworks that improve speed and consistency across the business.

You will play a central role in privacy and data governance, overseeing compliance with healthcare and consumer privacy frameworks, including HIPAA/HITECH and evolving state laws. The role also includes leading legal response to privacy incidents and guiding the organization on regulatory obligations tied to data handling and security.

A key dimension of the role is product counseling. You will advise on both patient-facing and internal tools, including AI-enabled features, partnering closely with product and engineering teams to assess regulatory risk across the product lifecycle. This includes advising on healthcare laws, data use, fraud and abuse considerations, and emerging AI-related requirements.

You will also shape the company’s intellectual property strategy, support policies governing AI and open-source usage, and review marketing and advertising materials for compliance with healthcare, privacy, and consumer protection standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings strong experience across commercial transactions, privacy, and product counseling within a technology or healthcare context. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance, and driving initiatives from concept through execution in a fast-moving environment.
