RN - Acute Care Night Shift

Job Summary: Provide comprehensive direct and indirect patient care in an acute care environment during night shifts. Deliver care with initiative, flexibility, and professionalism, requiring minimal supervision. Efficiently triage patients entering the acute care system, prioritizing care based on physical and psychosocial needs while managing patient flow effectively. Communicate promptly with primary care providers regarding patient status changes, symptoms, and diagnostic results. Respond swiftly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses. Be prepared to float to emergency, obstetrics, and other departments as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

• Deliver direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, collaborate with specialists, and adjust nursing care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for all patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, geriatrics, and general patients.
• Assess and reassess pain effectively, applying appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families.
• Maintain a safe care environment that minimizes medical errors and promotes patient safety.
• Support a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism.
• Demonstrate cardiac monitoring knowledge, identify dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate treatment.
• Accurately assign triage categories.
• Maintain detailed and accurate nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments.

Education, Licensure, and Certifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within one year of hire.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year of hire.

Experience and Professional Requirements:

• Preferred minimum of two years hospital nursing experience.
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
• Demonstrate punctuality and complete assigned work within designated timelines.
• Exhibit respectful, courteous, and effective communication with patients, guests, and staff.

Compensation typically starts between the beginning and midpoint of the salary range, with annual incremental increases based on qualifications and experience.
