We provide trauma-informed treatment and recovery support services for women with substance use and co-occurring disorders, fostering a safe, supportive environment where women can heal, grow, and build lasting recovery.Why This Role MattersThe Mentor, is a critical role in supporting women in recovery by providing peer-based, non-clinical services rooted in lived experience. This position helps individuals navigate recovery by offering guidance, encouragement, and connection to community resources. Through relationship-building, mentorship, and skill development, the Mentor empowers clients to make recovery-oriented changes and build sustainable, healthy lives.What You'll DoClient Engagement & Recovery SupportProvide ongoing recovery support services to approximately 20–30 individualsConduct outreach and use assertive engagement strategiesBuild trusting relationships and motivate clientsModel healthy recovery behaviorsRecovery Planning & Skill DevelopmentComplete needs assessments and develop Recovery PlansMonitor progress and review plans regularlyTeach recovery and life skillsEmpower clients in their recovery journeyResource Navigation & Community ConnectionConnect clients to community resourcesAssist with accessing services and support networksProvide education on self-help groupsPromote multiple pathways to recoveryCollaboration & Care CoordinationPartner with providers and agenciesWork with internal teamsSupport treatment engagementParticipate in meetingsDocumentation & Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete documentation accurately and on timeMaintain records per policyParticipate in training and outreachWhat You BringRequiredMust be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of 4 years' experience living with a substance abuse disorder, and a minimum of 4 years' of demonstrated recovery time. Must be willing to share personal recovery experienceHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's license in good standingReliable vehicle and motor vehicle InsuranceAct 34, 33, and 73 ClearancesProficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and sharepoint navigationCRS (Certified Recovery Specialist) credential required; or ability to complete required training for subsequent certification by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) within three months of hire.PreferredTwo years' work history in a behavioral health care environment preferred Knowledge of ROSC and trauma-informed careStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and with all types of peopleProficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and sharepoint navigationDemonstrate sensitivity to the complexities of problems with alcohol and other drug use and the challenges of recoveryOpen to multiple-pathways approach to treatment and recovery services Working ConditionsAbility to work and deliver services in the community; including but not limited to client's homes, CYF offices, health care facilities/hospitals, the Allegheny County Jail, and other locations throughout Allegheny County.Ability to maintain a reliable vehicle and travel daily for the role.
