Job Overview As a member of the interdisciplinary team, your primary responsibility will be caring for patients with behavioral health needs. You will utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive, developmentally appropriate care to high-risk behavioral patients and their families. You will act as a psychiatric resource to bedside teams, providing clinical support, monitoring compliance with policies, and maintaining a safe environment. You will respond to behavioral emergencies and collaborate with the BERT team to ensure safety for patients and staff. You will also ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to mental health care. Essential Functions Conduct individualized age-specific assessments of patients and families, including admission and reassessment, using appropriate protocols and standards. Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Team, setting goals and outcomes based on assessments. Implement and evaluate nursing actions, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and provide patient and family education. Ensure accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses, following hospital policies and timeframes. Support a safe environment for high-risk patients, provide clinical expertise, and assist staff with behavioral health resources. Participate in BERT events, assist with de-escalation and restraints if needed, and contribute to quality improvement activities. Advocate for patients, protect patient information, and adhere to infection prevention protocols. Qualifications Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience; pediatric experience and EPIC proficiency preferred. Current Nebraska RN licensure or compact state licensure. Certification in BLS, PALS, and ENPC (within 1 year). Skills and Abilities Ability to perform multiple duties efficiently, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under stress.
