Opportunity The Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation seeks a full‑time Assistant Coach for Men’s Soccer. The successful candidate will assist the head coach with all aspects of the program including practice, training, competition, travel, budget management, programming, alumni relations, recruiting, fundraising, and compliance with College, Department, Conference, and NCAA policies. Assist with all aspects of the program—including competition, practice, travel, budget, recruitment, fundraising, scheduling—as determined by the Head Coach. Perform other essential Departmental duties as assigned. Foster a healthy, inclusive program culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, integrity, and holistic development. Adhere to Rules, Policies, and Regulations of the Department, College, Centennial Conference, and NCAA. Assist with creating and executing recruitment strategies to build a competitive roster. Follow Departmental procedures promptly. Promote the mission and values of Swarthmore College and Athletics. Ensure safety guidelines are followed during practice, competition, travel, and all team activities. Support and collaborate with athletic administration and support areas such as Sports Medicine, Sports Performance, Athletic Communications, Equipment Room. Demonstrate integrity and high ethical standards. Become familiar with campus resources that support student‑athletes’ holistic development. Uphold College and Department policies and standards. Serve on Department and College committees as needed. Assist the Head Coach with coordinating community service initiatives, programming, and team bonding activities. Who You Are Soccer coach with collegiate level experience who is excited to assist in the holistic development of student‑athletes. Demonstrated experience with managerial tasks related to coaching, safety, and program administration. Prioritizes safety and well‑being at all times. Committed to fostering an inclusive environment while supporting the College and Department mission. What You Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 1‑3 years related experience coaching at the collegiate level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, techniques, and safety rules. Knowledge of intercollegiate sports, preferably at Division III. Ability to work independently and manage primary program aspects. Understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy, policies, and procedures, and Centennial Conference guidelines. Effective communication with student‑athletes, colleagues, support staff, and external constituencies. Ability to recruit and maintain highly selective academic and athletic standards nationwide. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications. 3+ years collegiate coaching experience with emphasis on infield coaching. Experience with recruiting in a highly selective academic setting. Competence with computers and technologies required for program administration.
